Eva Hesse was an German born american sculptor. She is most known for working with latex, fiberglass, and plastic. She graduated from New York's school of Industrial Art when she was 16. She enrolled in the Pratt Institute of Design but dropped out a year later. From 1954 - 1957 she studied at Cooper Union and 1959 she got her degree from Yale.
She was close friends with Sol LeWitt and they became two of the most influential artists of the 1960's. In 1962 Eva married fellow sculptor Tom Doyle. They moved to Germany in 1965 so Tom could pursue an artist residency from German industrialist and collector Friedrich Arnhard Scheidt. Her time in Germany marked a turning point in her life. 

She started making sculptures which became the primary focus in her work. In 1965 they return'd to New York where she started working with latex, fiberglass and plastics. She i now most known for her work after she got back. From 1968 til her death in 1970 she taught at the school f Visual arts, New York, while continuing to make an exhibit her work.
